So I've had quite a fun weekend! On Saturday I went out to somewhere exciting called Loughborough, in Leicestershire. Quite a bit up north. There is a collection of photos on my Facebook page, here. Imran had a driving day thing in an Aston Martin and Daniel and I were invited to come and watch. There were lots of super cars lined up. I fell in love with the Lamborghini Gallardo there. It looked so wonderful. Anyway, it was a fun day on the whole. There was two service station stops, one of which was over two hours long. We got drinks and sat on the comfy chairs talking for ages. Service stations are definitely underrated. Apparently Imran hadn't been in one before! Madness. I feel our time there was successful though, hopefully there'll be more service station stops in the future.

Sunday I went out in the afternoon with Daniel to the Addlestone Tesco, in search of some coaxial connector things. On the way home on a bit of a whim I dragged Daniel along to the Mercedes place in Brooklands as I wanted to see if the new SL63 AMG was out yet. It wasn't, but there was one there on a display which clearly said, "PLEASE DON'T TOUCH". I did peer in though and the interior did look fantastic. I also had another look at the SL55 AMG. It's so lovely. I would like one... Would look good parked next to the Lamborghini.

Anyway, it's nearly 2am now and I've got to be at work tomorrow. I should stop.

The new series of The Apprentice is on... It's such a funny programme. I always find myself a little amused by how ridiculous some of the people are. The men are the best... One guy came on saying something like, "If I need to remove someone from my life to further myself... Then I will", and so many of them talk about how they've never ever failed, and they'll take on anything, and nothing will stop them. Then when it comes to decide who should be project manager they all sort of point at each other and say, "Well my skills aren't really in that area". Their group name was also a bit more work than the ladies'. Every one of the men seemed to have an idea for a team name and didn't seem impressed by the other suggestions. The ladies however seemed to decide after only a few suggestions and a quick vote. The ladies on the whole seem to be getting on with each other a bit better, but then they always do at first. I have no doubt they'll be bitching about each other as time goes on though. At least the boys are up front about it.

Hehe, I was just amused by the men selling the fish to the solicitors. I quite liked that chap who was haggling with them, trying to get it for £50. They seemed to have made the mistake of first saying that they had to sell it, so this solicitor guy seemed happy not to budge.

I've already found out the guy who's going to annoy me the most. He's the very well spoken one. He'll be this year's Syed, I'm sure. He'll piss everyone off for weeks and weeks and somehow last until near the end. Can't remember his name unfortunately, but I hope anyone who's watching this will know who I mean.

Heheh, they're back in their meeting with "Sir Alan Sugar" now, and the boys don't seem to be getting on too well. Their egos are all so large, they just can't manage to get along.

Sunday 23rd March 2008

I've had quite a productive day. Quite odd, I've not seen anyone at all all day. I got a happy easter text message from my mum and grandparents, but I'm seeing them tomorrow and was there Saturday, so quite fancied not making the drive today. The most interaction I've had with other humans today has been watching the ever exciting "Becca-Cam", and from this chatting to some randomer called "HighlandSpirit" who I assume also knows Becca. It's very exciting, this internet thing. Quite interesting to see Becca after years of commenting on each others' websites.

I have had quite a productive day though... I've helped Rob locate Tor in Holland; I've cleaned the kitchen; Hoovered Dyson'd some carpets; done some washing; had a shower; played piano briefly; played guitar for a bit longer; changed the sheets and duvet cover on my bed; and been keeping a keen eye on this thing I'm doing for work (not gone wrong so far, thank God). All this and I didn't get up until 1pm (I was sooo tired yesterday).

Tomorrow I'm off to the Isle Of Wight with Anthony, John, Clare, Matt and Hayley. I believe the plan is to rocket down to the south coast in an ST220 convoy, and then get on the hovercraft to the island. Hovercrafts are exciting. I don't really know much about the Isle Of Wight, but it looks quite pleasant. It's quite tiny, apparently you can drive across it in a couple of hours. Anyway, might take my camera and get some pics. I've been asked to take my iPod as Anthony wants a repeat of Matt singing Wannabe in the car. He's very good at it.

Anyway, going to bed now. Need to be in the car by 8:30am. Oh for a regular sleeping pattern.

Sunday 23rd March 2008

I'm feeling quite knackered now... For some reason I have no memory at all of now, I didn't sleep terribly well on Thursday night. Then Friday night myself, Daniel and Anthony headed down to Basingstoke to Matt and Hayley's official house warming shindig. It was a very enjoyable evening. I'd met most of the people there which helps as I'm usually so socially awkward at parties. Marc was there with Kirsty and Rob which was quite nice. I had quite a nice chat with Marc, as we'd not seen each other in months, so that was quite nice.

By the early hours of the morning, there was only myself and Anthony left. We ended up playing "Scene It?" lots of times. This was quite good, except I never really watch films, so I hadn't really heard of any of the people or film names. I did my best though, despite this! Then went back to my parents' house for the night, where I didn't really sleep more than 2 hours. I got up early and headed back to Kingston. After a while I got into bed and was just drifting off when the doorbell went. I ignored it, it went again, I ignored it again, thought about it some more, and then got up to open it. As expected it was our landlady (who was by now looking for her key to let herself in), who was here to drill Daniel's hole (giggle giggle). There was a problem so she left with it undrilled and said she'd be back about 5pm. I said I can't promise I'd be here as I may have to go to work, but I'd do what I could. So I then had a shower and dried my hair, shot off to work to sort some stuff out, and then went back to my parents' house to drop off some easter eggs and give Anthony the £20 that I owed him. Then I had to fly back home and just made it back by 5pm, the hole was then drilled successfully. I hope Daniel likes it. I then put on a TV programme and laid on my bed. Successfully drifted off for a bit and eventually woke up again. I expected now that it'd be about 3am and my sleeping pattern would be completely fucked up. Oddly it was only 8:30pm, so that was quite good. Only an hour or two of sleep, but I felt refreshed. I then got on with work stuff that needed doing, and that's where I am now at 12:46am on Easter Sunday.

Oh crap, I've just remembered I've got the gas and electricity bills to pay. Joy. Best sort that out now!

Thursday 20th March 2008

The other day, I downloaded Skype. It seems like quite an exciting thing. I'd been thinking about it for a while but then used it at work recently to speak to someone in France and was quite impressed with how well it works. So I got it, and then somewhat unusually impulsively of me I paid for "SkypeIn", giving me a London phone number which people can ring me on. It's very exciting. I got my mum to phone me and begun singing its praises, but after 20 or 30 minutes, it oddly stopped and she couldn't hear me anymore. Shame.... Other than that, it's very exciting. Does anyone else actually use it? I get the feeling not, but wasn't sure if it's just that no one talks about it.

I've been so busy lately, I'm not sure I like it. I don't feel uni really equipped me for this life. Four day weekend now, which is quite exciting, but I feel I've got so much work to do. I sort of feel a bit bad. Tomorrow is Matt and Hayley's house warming part-ay. It should be quite exciting. Also if there weather's nice I might be off out for another walk after I was inspired by last week's. Daniel tells me that the other way up the Thames is more exciting. We'll see.

Anyway, I'm not really in a talky mood... More soon.

Sunday 16th March 2008

This morning I got up oddly early at felt fairly enthused for a trip to Maplin to look for a right angled 1/4" jack for one of my guitar leads. So I set off on foot to Kingston. I feel I don't really walk down there often enough, as it's only about 20 minutes away and it's quite a nice walk. So I grabbed my iPod and set off down the road by myself. On the way past uni I saw a bunch of people who seemed to be being taken on a tour around the uni. Presumably potential 2008 newcomers. I found myself partly feeling, "they'll be sorry..." and partly slightly envious, wishing I could do it over again. Anyway, I kept going on and came to the shops.

I got to Maplin, and they didn't really have what I wanted. Wandered around a bit, and checked out some other shops. I then found myself up near the Thames in Kingston so decided I'd just wander along the edge of it for a while. I didn't really have a plan, but just kept on walking. It was quite a lovely little trip out. There was some lovely wildlife.

I found myself oddly fond of the swans and ducks that like to splash about down there. There was also obviously several places where there were kids throwing in bread so there were huge bundles of these birds all gathering round.

I walked on, and saw some people rowing, accompanied by a smaller boat with an engine and a man with a megaphone shouting instructions/advice at the people in the boat. It was quite exciting.

I also got passed by a lone gentleman in a canoe and quite admired this man for just going down the river in a tiny little boat by himself. I imagine that he was quite enjoying himself, and it made me think I don't really have anything like that.

So anyway... I kept on walking and ended up at the wrong end by Surbiton, but not before I made some more friends.

I quite like being up close with animals... I don't really know why. I found myself quite fascinated, looking at some of the ducks and swans, wondering what their agenda was. What were their plans for the day? I can't help but wonder if the animals have got it right. They all seem very care free, swimming around, getting fed by young humans wielding slightly out of date bread.

I was out for a little over two hours in the end, and returned back home empty handed with nothing tangible to show for my morning out... But I'd certainly enjoyed my little walk. :) I hope to be able go on another one again some time soon. I also might start to make more regular use of photos on this blog... I feel it makes it a bit more interesting.

Saturday 8th March 2008

I feel like it's been forever since I last wrote on this thing. My zest for blogging has gone away again. I can't really remember what I've been up to lately.

Kelly Osbourne's on the TV. She's so lovely.

After talking about doing it for ages, my new insurance policy came into effect this week, so I got to have a go out in Anthony's super-duper fast car. He's been a little bit upset lately because I've been having bad thoughts of wanting a Diesel. His view on it is that everyone needs a 3 litre V6 regardless of what their situation is. In some bizarre cases, people have agreed with him (Matt). So it was my turn to give the machine a go in Anthony's best attempt to sway me back to the merits of petrol as a fuel. Needless to say, it was a truly lovely car. Pleasingly though at the end of our excursion I found myself feeling very sure of my decision to want a more normal sized Diesel engined car. It was so nice being in a car in which you can plant your foot down in second gear and have it carry you effortlessly up to 70mph at a fairly fast speed. It was a lot of fun on the dual carriageway up to the MP3, and again on motorway slip roads. However once on the motorway there was a sense of sadness that you just have to move up a few gears and that's it, the end of the happy feeling. It was so boring being held up quite so much by speed limits. After my recent run in with the law though, I didn't really fancy being caught doing 155mph up the M3. So yes, it was of course good fun but I can't see a lot of use for such a powerful car on our roads. I'd rather save the money and do some exciting track days in fast cars.

On this topic, I also had a go in Thomas, James' car to get a more realistic feel of a Diesel. I was most impressed by the little guy's torque. I sort of feel it's more appropriate for getting around town than mine is as it's able to increase speed easier, whereas mine involves being two gears lower. It's fine if you accelerate from stationary up to 70, but if say you're going through a town at 32mph, using fourth gear to save fuel and you suddenly need to accelerate. In mine I'd need to change down to 2nd to go any quicker.

We went out to Tesco at about 11, got home about 1am and started cooking a lovely bolognaise. It was very nice, but it has now left us up at 3am and I'm getting very tired indeed. Was going to write more, but instead I'm just gonna go collapse in bed.
