Song: James Collier - Everybody Hurts

James is singing me a beautiful cover of the REM classic. It's lovely.

Apparently Seb reads this. This, and knowing how prone I am to following links from friends' sites (Lila's been a popular one, of late)... It got me wondering who else reads this. It's quite frightening, this internet thing.

I seem to have got a bunch of comedy DVDs lately. Alan Carr, Al Murray, and Jimmy Carr all seem to have released a new DVD of their standup. Presumably for Christmas. I was a bit unsure of Alan Carr at first, as I only really know him from the Friday Night Project. Pleasingly though his standup was very good. I love how he kept talking about how he grew up as the fat, gay kid with glasses and braces on his teeth. Obviously not a fun childhood for him, but he seemed to speak about it with a strange fondness. I guess it's alright now though, he's on TV...

The Al Murray DVD was of the tour I went to see, so was quite excited. It wasn't quite as good as I'd hoped though. I'm sure it was better when I saw him, but I dunno... Pleasingly though the Jimmy Carr DVD was absolutely fantastic. Quite possibly the best so far. He's so offensive, it's wonderful. There's an extra on the DVD which amused me quite a bit. He entered that celebrity 5-a-side football thing a while back. He picked a team of people who were never picked for their football team when they were in school. He pretty much banded together a team of misfits. There was the tallest man in the world, some very old man, a dwarf or widget person, and a "transgender thing". As lovely as they all looked standing together before the match, they sadly weren't very good. The tranny sustained an injury and was substituted off for Justin Hawkins of The Darkness. He actually seemed to know what he was doing, and they scored their first goal of the tournament. Needless to say, they didn't do too well in the tournament. Nevermind.

I'm running out of things to write about... I've had such a lethargic day today, I think my brain isn't really in gear enough to do this blog thing.

So, apparently he didn't die... He jumped off the back of Toys R Us, not the front. Rookie error. Everyone knows the front is a longer fall. I jest... I'm not sure if it was his intention to die or not, as apparently he had a large amount of drugs in him at the time, so who really knows what he was doing. He landed on his feet and has subsequently broken then both (and apparently might need them amputated), and his collar bone's broken, and I would imagine potentially more.

As a quick note to anyone else I know. Could you please stop falling off of the Toys R Us car park. I would appreciate it. To be honest, I do wonder why they've not put up some sort of rail/fence thing to stop people jumping off. It's such a popular suicide spot for Woking.

In other news, you may recall a while back I had a good ol' time in a very fast Mercedes-Benz, and in particular that there was a cock up and they gave me a free half hour thing. Well it's later this afternoon, I'm just passing time waiting for it. Interestingly though, I got a phone call from them this morning. There's been a problem. Oh no! The guy went on to tell me, there's a problem with the DVD recorder in all of the cars, and so I won't be able to have the DVD made. But I can do it anyway and book another one at a later date for the DVD. So trying to get some sympathy I explained that the reason I had this half hour was because of the DVD not working. He then went on to clarify that I can do this half hour today, and then get another half hour free! Or alternatively, I can cancel today and reschedule. So I confirmed that the next one was free, and then said it'd seem pretty stupid to not go for it today and take a free one. He concurred.

So that seems pretty good to me! I'm a bit annoyed that I didn't get the DVD of the first one, as there is only one first time... But all things considered, when I eventually do get the DVD I should have got the hang of things a lot better.

I'm not 100% on this, but I've been told this morning that someone I went to school with and was quite good friends with in year 11 has killed himself. The old Woking favourite, the Toys R Us car park again. It's so strange...

He was the first person to ever give me a Linux CD (an old SuSe with KDE1, if memory serves), and also introduced me to IRC. Good times.

Fingers crossed he did it right unlike before where he survived the fall and was eventually switched off the life support machine in hospital.

Hm.
