Song: Funeral For A Friend - Escape Artists Never Die
I'm currently at work, and just when I thought this place couldn't get any cooler, they give us... a pool table!
A few days ago they moved all the sofas away from the big TV (actually it's a projector) and we were all quite distraught. However now there's a nice new green table there, with some nice clean shiny balls. They are forgiven.

This weekend, I watched both of the Wayne's World films. When I was younger I loved them, but hadn't seen them in about 8 years or so (at a guess). The good news was, all the lines came back to me. What's funny though was how there were a few lines/jokes that I didn't get back when I was 12. One being, when ordering chinese Wayne says, "I'll have the cream of some-young-guy" (said fast). Made me chuckle. The thing that made me laugh the most though, was this gem. When going on and on about how hot Cassandra is, one of the things he says quite quickly in a list is, "She'd give a dog a bone". I thought that was such a cool line! Obviously it wooshed right over me when I was 12. One other thing I found slightly cool was there's a line at the end of Wayne's World 2, where that girl who looks like Garth is talking to him outside Waynestock, and she's carrying a load of paper and a book on which you can see the word "UNIX" on the cover. Then the conversation is something like:
"wow, that's a UNIX book?"
"Yeah..."
"Cool..."
The thing that amused me here was that 8 years ago I of course had no idea what UNIX was. Now however, I work for a company who, last time I heard, is the world's biggest UNIX vendor.
In other good news, I've just seen this week's Jonathan Ross, and Robbie Williams was on there. I'm delighted to share with you all that he is ashamed of the lyrics to Rock DJ. At least he realised eventually.

Song: Funeral For A Friend - Drive
Yesterday, I nearly killed a girl. It was really, really horrible. There's this road on my way to work that's a 40MPH speed limit, and at one point goes through a small villiage (amazing it's not a 30 limit, really). Anyway, there's this big crossroad junction with a set of traffic lights. Just after the lights, immediately after the junction, there is another set of traffic lights which is for a pedestrian crossing. I always check these lights carefully as I know they're not liked to the ones infront, despite being so close together. So I'm going through at 40MPH and am checking this second green light. It certainly is green. On the left, waiting at the crossing was a mother, with a son and daughter either side of her. Just as I'm approaching the line at which I'd stop if they were red, the girl leaps into the road. Before I even have time to think "FUCKING HELL!", I swerve to the right (no idea how close I was to hitting the curb of the island to my right) and hear a scream, presumably from the mum. I heard no thump, so knew that I had missed the girl. I really have no idea how close she got to me, but I think I'm probably better off not knowing. So anyway, I'm then really paniced and scared of driving, and start braking really hard (there was nothing behind me) and am staring in my rear view mirror. Unsure of whether to stop or keep going, I've now dropped to about 20MPH and am still staring in my mirror. I could see that nothing seemed to be wrong and that the lights were now red. Content that she was unharmed, I kept going with my journey, but it did shake me up a bit. She really was that close. :\
I think I'm going to have a fear of that bit of road from now on. :(

Song: Linkin Park - Pushing Me Away
I doubt many people will care, but I thought this scored me some geek points. Here is a picture of all my computers lined up nicely together.
From top left to bottom right, we have:
Apple iBook, with Mac OS X
Crappy old PC, which is my main one with Linux on it
Sun Ultra 10, never actually used it so don't know what OS is on there
Even crappier old PC, with Solaris 9 x86
Crappier still PC, with Linux
Sun Ultra 10, with Solaris 10 SPARC on it. My newest toy.
You can also see my iPod and mouthwash. Lovely stuff.

Song: Hoobastank - Pieces
Well I'm back! For some reason Matt's router screwed up and I there was no internet activity to or from his house. I didn't realise this and assumed the worst. So I took this server home and fixed it up. There was nothing really wrong, but a small thing did need fixing. I then updated the kernel. No more out of date stock kernel for me. So anyway, I'm back! More soon.

President Bush's morning security briefing is wrapping up. Donald Rumsfeld is concluding his part and says, "Finally, three Brazilian soldiers were killed yesterday near Baghdad."
"OH MY GOD!" shrieks Bush, and he buries his head in his hands for a seemingly interminable 30 seconds. Stunned at the unexpected display of emotion, the president's staff sit speechless, not sure how to react.
Finally, Bush looks up and asks Rumsfeld, "How many is a brazillion?"

I've made a quite dramatic change to this site (again). The links on the left now don't actually load a whole new page. Subsequently it should be much faster at getting between pages. I've got a few things to iron out, but it should work for everyone who reads this. Let me know if anything goes wrong.

Song: Staind - Take It
A few days ago I saw Robbie Williams' new video on TV. I thought it was really crap. No different from the pretty crappy "Radio" that was released a while back. However... this morning, I've heard the b-side to the new crap single. Strangely, it's really good! He has his whole band back, no crappy synth, and lyrics of a similar style to those in "Come Undone" (one of my favourite of his songs).
I also this morning (I watched CD:UK) saw Lisa Scott Lee. I've always thought she was really pretty, ever since the Steps days (despite Steps' songs making me want to stab myself). But this morning she was wearing a nice red corset, and had her hair done almost like a 60s glamour model. Very nice indeed. Anyway, they were talking about her promise that if her next single doesn't make the top 10, she'll quit the music business forever. They then of course asked how she was so confident. Apparently she has worked with Guy Chambers on this new one, and subsequently I really want to hear it. I've talked a lot about Guy Chambers before... but between Robbie Williams, Brian McFadden, Delta Goodrem, and Busted; I do think he knows how to write a good pop song. Also, he always seems to use live instruments, not crappy synths. If anyone has heard this song, let me know what you think.
Also on CD:UK, I learned that James Bourne has a new band, with a single on the way. I don't yet know anything about them, that's my job for today. Luckily Matt's not gone with him on this new adventure, so I expect they'll just be another Busted around the time of their first album.
The other thing I thought I'd mention as a final thing... When the first Tatu single came out here, everyone was getting very excited about two lesbians in school girl outfits. I completely ignored them and got very bored of the hype around the image. These days however, it seems they've grown up a lot. I saw them on Frank Skinner's show last night, and was suprised. There seemed to be a language barrier as only one of them seems to speak fluent English, but they were both dressed quite nice and grown up, and made every effort to make it clear that they're not lesbians (despite Frank's efforts to talk about it). Apparently one's got a kid, the other's getting married. Sadly their new single is along the same style as their first, but nevermind.
Final question: who else wants to cause serious bodily harm to James Blunt?
*Update* Apparently Guy Chambers only wrote the lyrics (with Ben Adams), and Lisa Scott Lee's new single sounds very crap.
